Culture wars are ugly things. Primarily because they pit members of society against each other in very personal ways, largely relying on a steady stream of misinformation. In response, I have started making lists.

This first list* is a form of protest against the widely held conservative view that All Artists Are Bludgers, and represents my attempt to start over with an objective, respectful, fact-based discussion of the value of The Arts and our artist-workers in Australian cultural life.

I’m not sure what list should come next, but I am open to suggestions and willing to continue to expand this one. Email connie[at]runway.org.au.

These responses are compiled from 64 individuals who responded to a simple Facebook request for information.
